The Bowl of the Day

Before yesterday’s  noon meal I gave thanks for the day; not only a smooth day or an easy day; a very mixed day.  Still a day that called out thanks.

I found myself pulled back through the afternoon to those thanks and to the day I held in my hands like a bowl;  a bowl in which God is caught, – not captured – but held, like rain, or like dew or like tears.
I imagined that bowl formed of the morning and  held out before me.  I could feel the stretch of my arms extended.  I could feel my hands cupped around it.  The bowl of the day held out in hope, in despair, in joy, in prayer for discernment or strength.

This is the bowl of the day in which we may catch the presence of the Holy One; the singing bowl in which the ping of the Spirit sounds.

May you hold in possibility the bowl of your day and may you find amidst all it holds, the presence of the Holy One, in a way that is just for you.
