A Carol for the Longest Night

Silent Night, Holy Night
Here we long for your Light
Here your Presence is achingly near
Here your Love gently touches our fear
Hold our tears in your heart
Hold our tears in your heart

Silent Night, Holy Night
Here we long for your Light
May our darkness be softened with grace
May our grief be transformed by your face
Seed your hope in our hearts
Seed your hope in our hearts

Silent Night, Holy Night
Here we long for your Light
Draw us now in this moment to You
In our grief and our loss make us new
Birth your life in our hearts
Birth your life in our hearts

About Catherine Smith

A retired minister with the United Church of Canada I’ve grown up in church, been ordained and served communities that are small or in transition. I’ve seen firsthand just how powerful these experiences can be in helping to foster meaningful connections with others and the Other, the mystery that holds us all. My greatest hope is that my writing and this website will help you live well in the big questions that face all of us in this beautiful, aching world.
